Thomas Troward (1847 to 1916) was born in India and was Divisional Judge of the North Indian Punjab from 1869 until retirement in 1896.In retirement he wrote and lectured in metaphysics and influenced the Science of the Mind Movement. It is said that once a vision came upon him about the development of a system of philosophy that gave peace of mind and the practical results of physical health and happiness in the individual. He had studied the sacred books of all religions including the Koran, Hindu scriptures and books of Raja Yoga. He became well known as a writer and lecturer and William James said Troward’s Edinburgh Lectures were ‘far and away the ablest statement of philosophy I have met,beautiful in its sustained clearness of thought and style, a really classic statement.’
