samuel beckett speaks

Samuel Beckett was famously reticent about being interviewed or recorded. His work speaks for him. ‘Excerpt from “Watt” by Samuel Beckett read by Jack Emery.’ ‘Detail for Samuel Beckett Paris 1987.’ Working an American TV video production of “What Where”. As one of his last productions and one where most unusually Beckett consented to be videoed while working, this is unique footage.
Though recordings of Beckett’s own voice are very rare, there are many recordings of his works being performed freely available on the web.
